Does Artie actually respect Ant?

If Artie sees Ant as an equal... well he seems not to respect himself, so..?
Artie often compliments Ant (flattery will get you everywhere), it's a trick I've encountered before; "You're the best, man, I'd never rip YOU off"

Artie sees Anthony as that nerd who he used to mock on Stern. He thinks Ant is funny but that's still the guy to him

No. He's not scared of Anthony like he was of Howard or Norm.

Of course not. He worked with Stern.

That’s not really how addicts think

The never rip YOU off bit at the end was said to me personally by an addict who always told me how great I was, who then went-on to rip me off.

That’s your fault for giving stinks the money

IMO at least some of the time Artie gave me the impression that he wasn't particularly enthused about doing the A&A show so I'd say no, based on that he doesn't especially respect Anthony much at all. While I'm sure he doesn't dislike him or anything but to me he appears to believe Ant's a far lesser luminary, not a fellow comedian on equal footing.

Spot on, sir.

I only remember him praising the Dice impression.

At best he maybe considers Anthony a notch down from him. It doesn't matter though, he had no problem screwing over a near prime Stern, so Anthony has no hope.
This will turn into a Twitter snipefest at some point, but I doubt it will be too vicious. They have too many friends in common, and are both good at the cut down game.

Genuinely wondering how did he screen Stern over?

Concerning yourself with what junkies repspect is a foolish endeavor. The answer is right under their nose!
1 Jimandthem 2017-12-14
Absolutely not and thinks he is slumming it on CM
1 AppleFan79 2017-12-14
Absolutely.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here, but I'm guessing the answer to that question is "no".

He completely fucked away a gig worth hundreds of thousands of dollars a year with Howard Stern. Artie probably thinks Anthony is a drunken, racist, sexist, closested homosexual, religiously bigoted political extremist Howard Stern ripoff fucking around in his basement.
Artie has no regard for Anthony. He was routinely late for the show by more than half an hour. He was late for the first show!

Artie is more closeted than Anthony. Artie's a fag and it doesn't jive with his fake Jersey tough guy persona. Even in Crashing with Pete Holmes, Artie's trying to be a bad ads and he doesn't give a fuck type of guy. He's not. He's a fucking pussy who throws pity parties for himself and he doesn't give a fuck about his family, friends, or fans. All because his clumsy dad slipped on a fucking ladder 30 years ago.

It's not a matter of respect; it's a matter of
Drugs > everything else

most* (probably including Artie)

Thanks for repeating what I said

No. He never treated Anthony like he was his co-host, he never tried to bond with him beyond "hey we're Italian and grew up in the 70s." He acted like he was a guest plugging a gig on every episode.
A few days before AA I rewatched Artie on Legion of Skanks from a year ago. He treated them the same way he treated Anthony. He told the same stories and jokes had the same "Hey, it's great to be here. Wow, this is a nice thing you've got going. I had a great time and will love to come back" forced superficial flattery. It's not that he didn't like them or Anthony. It's that in his mind he's a legendary cult figure because he was Howard's sidekick for 8 years so what could he possibly have in common with 3 younger comics and a guy who would still be knocking tin if he never heard Howard Stern.

I mean, they seemed to enjoy working together. The show flowed better. The vibe in studio was better.
Man to man, I think Artie respected Anthony for giving him a chance. But I don’t think Artie saw Anthony as a saving grace. He probably saw him being on AA as scraping the bottom of the barrel.
