By "wrong time to come forward with such a statement " she means she should have waited to see which way the wind was blowing with liberals and SJWs. That's what it is coming to with the left. You can't just come out and speak positively about or defend someone you like or consider a friend. You have to wait for social media to declare their position and if it differs from yours then you either remain silent or come out against your friend.
The thing is: I'd defend her if I didn't hate her. She's standing by her friend because she knows the truth and she's not giving in to peer pressure. It's everyone else who's the piece of shit here. But I'd rather see Dunham burn at this point.
