If you put Jim and Anthony on a show with a capable third person with a little bit of humor it would be much better. Anyone with a bit of self-awareness and a bit of humor would make a show much better than anything that Opie was involved with. That said just because I don't like the taste of any of the newer turds doesn't mean that Opie is any less of a turd. You can't deny reality.

I don't argue that. Say Ron Bennington, Jim, And Ant, that would be a great show. But it isn't. Opie did what he did, I am not saying that noone could do it better. But, the fact remains that he did it and he did it effectively. Unfortunately his other character flaws made him supremely hateable.

Stop trying to figure out what "radio formula" works. It's over. Nothing on radio will ever be as funny as O&A. Jim is nearly 50, and he's become utterly obsessed with his new eating disorder. Every single say he's tired, probably from lack of calories, and he can't summon up the angry Jimmy energy we remember. And even if he could, he doesn't seem to be interested in doing anything besides compulsively fiddling with his phone. He is completely unwilling to take any criticism from his long time fans ("Stop listening BABY BOY!").

He's having to play the "Opie" role with Artie and this is what his fake laugh sounds like.

They gel well together on a few things, old movies and racism namely, but a lot of their jokes feel very forced. And a lot of Artie's humor is obviously fucked up by his drug use for the past 20 years. And Ant is old and very fucking weird.
