True but I think it might have a place for some people. I ran into an ex and she asked me if I met her "partner". I asked if she turned gay. She laughed and said she uses the word partner because she feels like a loser using the term "boyfriend" when she is 45. She said it has less of a "my life didn't turn out/loser" vibe.
