I was late to the party but I thought "prime" R&F with a properly functioning Fez was not as good as the crazy show where Ron constantly poked a mental patient. All the bizarre shit Fez would say or do, it was the most compelling funny and mean spirited radio I've ever heard.
This is post breakdown crazy Fez, but a great illustration of how far gone he was.
There are so many different things to love about this clip. With that being said, I still think it was a work turned shoot. Pepper's mediocre acting normally gives it away.
Iv only heard a few full R&F shows, but the show he did after earl had been taken to hospital, where nobody but Ron talks for 2 hours while he utterly lambasts his entire staff is fuckin incredible.. some of the best radio Iv ever heard..
I agreee. It's my favorite episode, Ron is brutally beautiful and I laugh the whole show.
It's funny. I've listened to numerous radio shows - Howard Stern, Drew and Mike, Kramer and Twitch, Dave and Chuck the Freak (worst show I've ever heard), Gregg and Michelle, O and A - but Ron and Fez have been the most unique listen out of all of them. When they were on, I don't think I've ever heard a sharper host than Ronnie B. He couldn't interview like Howard, and they didn't have the guests like O and A with the Hang, but he was funny 99% of the time and it was all him. The Fighting 9 Year Olds bit is a great example.
Is Fez doing a bit? Did he know getting burgers instead of actual steaks would get a reaction? Im admittedly not a ron and fez listener but ive always wondered if fez is actually that crazy.
Ironically, this bit legitimately bummed me out as a fan because while it was by no means the peak of Fez's insanity, the logic used here really felt like a bit.

Ron and Fez wasn't for everyone, I admit. Ronnie kept me around - sane Fez was entertaining, but militant gay victim Fez could be a strain.

I've debated that a good amount of the show was a work, but sometimes even I wonder.
If it's orchestrated, it's very well done most of the time.
