Anthony said himself they had amazing chemistry. It's plain to see Jimmy and Anthony aren't what they were without Opie pulling the strings.

Both Opie and Anthony were cuntish to each other towards the end for various reasons, it could have been aired out if they would have talked it through instead of Anthony sending texts behind Opie's back. Anthony was finished no matter what Opie did, his attitude and relationship with management over the years made sure of that, as did his increasingly toxic rants and unpredictability caused by his alcoholism. Opie had no power by the end too, the company clearly weren't that bothered about losing any of them.
I won't deny that Opie has narcissistic tendencies, but that doesn't subtract from the fact he put together a great show that lasted for years and gave many of the backroom staff a career in radio and gave many comedians a presence. Greatness often comes from narcissists, just look at history to see that.
Yet he was installing air conditioners before Opie plucked him from obscurity. Anthony will never find the chemistry he had with Opie, just listen to their talks on the phone to remind yourself how well they feed of each other even after everything that's happened.
