The point is that his humor made more sense 20 years ago when culture was more conservative and sensitive. He probably wouldn't be the same guy today that he was back then.
People complain about political correctness now, but forget all the moral hullabaloo from 20 years ago. When people thought D&D was satanism, Rock music was telling kids to kill themselves and Dennis Leary was edgy.
Idk. Bill railed against Reagan, Bush & Clinton. He seemed to despise gov't in general. He also hated materialism so, while I don't think he'd be a fan of Trump, I do think his take would be much more interesting. I think he'd enjoy the chaos resulting from Trump & see it as more of a reflection on society than just the typical, "Hey, everyone. Trump is sooo stupid, right?" type of comedy we hear from every other hack comedian/late night host.
Makes sense, Opie stated on several occasions that Hicks was his all time favorite comic. Nothing says 'funny' like an ultra left liberal pontificating on topics he doesn't understand.
He's been blessed and cursed with a short career. Some of his stuff is good, a lot of it is just crabby preaching. I'm sure he would have had a career and then blew his brains out when Dane Cook became popular.

Rogan is obsessed with Sam Kinison so I think in his mind it's an either/or.

I think if Hicks were alive today, I would find his extreme liberalism to be insufferable.

That's the thing about being dead for 20 years. your material is a bit dated.

It's not about his material being dated. I'm saying, maybe the world is a little better place without another faggot making shitty Trump jokes.

Ari is a comedian in the same way that Brendan Schaub is.

Because he didn't tell jokes. He just went on stage and pontificated about conspiracies.

The only guys I know less funny than Bill Hicks are Ari Shaffir and Joe Rogan. All three of em can go shit in their hat.

I liked Hicks in his time. Some of the shit he said was actually considered edgy in '89/'90.
To have a 13-disc box set in this guy's name...for a FOUR YEAR career is mind numbingly over doing it.
Leary culled his best stuff, made it marketable (which Hicks' would claim to HATE if he were still alive) and would be Opie's new raqio partner.

Bill Hicks left skidmarks in his underwear that were funnier than Ari could ever hope to be, fuckin bulb-nosed hipster kike.
