Too lazy to find examples, but I remember several instances of Opie saying to Ant, "that has to be hack, right?" in reference to some shitty radio show bit they were jocktobering, and Ant, to humor him, goes, "oh, yeah, it's gotta be", even though that description didn't really make sense in context, it was just about something that was unfunny and corny. Virtually every time you heard him call something "hacky", it was being used as a synonym for "unfunny", but the times he correctly described something as "hacky" were so rare that they seemed coincidental.

How does someone spend that much time around the greatest comics of a generation and not even succeed in learning the basic vocabulary of comics?

When I see people on here describe Opie as "hacky", it's kind of annoying cuz I'd say he's not even hacky. To be a hacky comedian, you have to at least know stock and clichéd jokes, and know enough to rely on safe, well-trod comedic tropes. But Opie can't even do that, because he is so bereft of any humor he can't even get laughs from dolts with tried and true, banal material. I've heard comics complain that hacks kill and are actually hard to follow because they just recycle proven, boring material that most crowds like, but when has Opie ever "killed"? Sherrod is hacky, because he does "but wypipo drive like dis!" material from the 70s that idiots like, but Opie isn't even hacky, he's just totally lacking in any comedic ideas, even old, recycled ones.
