God, could you imagine if Opie really did have a decent bit or joke stolen from him. He'd be insufferable to the point of making the thief look like the good guy in the end.
Opie genuinely believes that people stole or never gave Opie the credit for things that he came up with or popularized all the time. If he talked about something on the show that was already talked about plenty, and then months later he hears someone else mention it he would say, "isn't that our thing?" or, "hey we came up with that!" and then act real angry. It was one of the most insufferable things about him.
