I have a theory that Ant is actually sober and he's helping Artie.

Artie has lost millions gambling, stabbed himself multiple times in a suicide attempt, lost out on a million+ a year radio job and alienated everyone around him, none of these which led him to assess his life and quit addiction.

I believe Ant invited Artie to compound media to create Artie's real lowest point in an attempt to scare him sober.
