I am pretty sure Opie was using it as a negotiating tactic elsewhere and hoped Ant/Keith wouldn't notice or say anything. Although like you I also wouldn't be surprised if Keith actually floated the idea to Opie.
I'm like a broken record with this stuff, my pet theory is that Ant gets millionaires to invest in Compound Media. That would explain:
1) why Gavin worked so damn hard
2) why a network with ten listeners has six hosts. Hint: Gavin was propping up the place
3) Why Opie wasn't interested in joining Compound Media. He didn't want to invest in it. Note that Ant's post doesn't exclude this possibility, Ant explicitly says that the wasn't going to give it away:
"We didn't offer to hand over half of my company!"
Note that Ants tweet doesn't exclude the possibility that he offered Opie 5 boxes of Kraft mac & cheese per week to sign... So clearly the offer he made was that Opie buy half the company and he gets paid in Macaroni
KtC confirmed my dumb theory. This seems to confirm that Gavin and Ant owned Compound Media. I'm guessing everyone else is on the payroll. Not clear if Artie is an investor or an employee.
"O&A brand has value. Renaming the network to O&A requires a partnership. Which was offered. This came at a cost to you as you're well aware"
He didn't confirm what you said at all, just that it would come at a cost to Opie which we don't know what that "cost" is. It could be anything from being exclusive to the network only showing up to public events hosted by compound, or it could be that he has to promote the network 2 times a day on his personal social media, it could be that he has to fund his own show instead of the company funding it, you have no idea. Secondly it definitely in no way confirms that Gavin owns compound, quote the exact line Keith said that actually confirms that and I'll give you a million dollars...
Oh I'm definitely speculating, no doubt. IMHO, Compound Media is being propped up by millionaires.
In Ant's defense, it's actually damn clever. There are a LOT of people like Gregg Hughes out there. Dudes with millions of dollars burning a hole in their pocket, but zero ability to slap a TV show together.
If that "cost" to become a partner was more than one penny, Opie must've laughed all the way home from the meeting.
A podcast network stuck behind a paywall that's only known to the general public for racism, Proud Boys, domestic violence, court-ordered alcohol rehab, and now, heroin/cocaine abuse and suicide attempts, is not a wise investment or a good last chapter for an "entertainer's" legacy.
That would not have been a smart business move for them to give up 50% equity for tweets/other promotion instead of cash, but we are talking about the mastermind behind The Ron & Anthony Show, so who knows.
Maybe Keith told him that he'd have 50% of the new O&A show and brand that he envisioned? Meaning Opie and Anthony would split any financial windfall 50/50 but also have to cover the costs equally as well. A true partnership but only where the brand name O&A was concerned not anything else to do with Compound Media and it's lineup.
Although as others have said I could see Keith the nimrod offering Opie 50% ownership of all of Compound Media for a price and then neglecting to mention that tidbit to Anthony.
The first time I got laid off, I got paid a lump sum. My Dad tried to get me to 'invest in his business.' Which was laughable. How does that work exactly? It's not like there are shares that can be traded, the company isn't public. Investing in someone's business is a lot like simply giving them money and hoping that you'll get it back with interest.
The business went bankrupt and Dad is homeless now.
Before there were "hoes in different area codes" there were sailors who had a "girlfriend in every port."
I once asked my Dad why he refused to settle down. His explanation? He basically said that there were hundreds of women who'd be willing to take him up on that, and if he ever felt like it, he would.
My Dad does a lot of public speaking about sailing, but I think it would be a lot more interesting if he spoke to the RedPill / MGTOW types. Pops basically wrote the book on it. (He's 80 years old btw)
The pest part about this scenario is that it will make everyone mad at everyone. Opie, Ant, Keith... any permutation of two and there will be reciprocated consternation.
Haha! I knew Tit's was full of shit. What a weirdo. Did he really think he wouldn't get called out for that shit? I have to say it's really been a delight watching Opie fail at everything, and being exposed as the friendless, lying, delusional zoo crew idiot he really is.
Ant would have to be the biggest cuck on the planet to give the Torpid Sloth 50% after he did absolutely zero to help Ant get that business off the ground.

Replying to @AnthonyCumiaxyz
Why would Ant toil for years to build something great to hand over any of it to anyone?
Those are two things that Ant literally HAS NOT done with Cumpound Media.
I've never owned part of a business, so I'm legit confused by this. If Opie buys in -- even if it's just 1% of the company -- then how would Ant be his "boss," or how would he be "subordinate" to Keith? If they have a disagreement, what the hell can they do to him? Fire him? Ban him from the building? He owns part of the fucking company. It seems like the worst Ant could do is overrule him on something since he's the majority owner, but even then he couldn't just unilaterally declare the discussion over if Opie didn't want to let it rest like he could with an employee, because again, Opie owns part of the company. (Ant could then proceed with whatever his decision was, but Opie could still keep being a pain in the ass about it if he wanted to, and what could they do about it?)
Opie is afraid not only of Anthony being in the power position; which has always been his gig, (contract negotiations, steering the ship, he's been doing this since he was 18) he's afraid of having to face the inevitable beatings he will take here, on Twitter, at FH Riley's (In the heart of Huntington...), at home. Under his own skullcap.
His worst nightmare is not to 'be the guy'. He can't carry a solo show (like Ant has, for better or worse, for 3 years), he can't take a ball busting from Artie.
The Greggshells would be a constant Tippy-Esque stink over the network. Imagine the Free Speech Network having to censor themselves, not to appease subscribers, but to not "ruffle Gregorio's feathers".
Opie is at least self aware enough to know that if he leeched on to Anthony's coat tails, and fuck forbid fail, he could not handle the daily beatings that would culminate in a classic R. Budd ending.
He did - at a cost. Not sure if Opie was aware of that. Not sure Ant was too! I don't know if Ant would have been happy with Opie owning half the business even with money involved!! Seems like Keith is taking liberties with what he's offering, Opie's talking out of school and misinterpreting what Keith is offering and Ant's as always oblivious.
I just like how the post started with "Not sure" "Not sure" "I don't know if" and ended with "Opie's talking out of school and misinterpreting what Keith is offering and Ant's as always oblivious." Started with guess work and ended with a statement. It's like those conspiracy nuts when they get into something they get sucked in deeper and deeper in the rabbit hole. You can see starting with don't knows morphing into seems and ending with statement. Not judging, that's how we all are.
IIt would have "value" if they owned their own tapes of their old shows and ran them as part of the programming. It was the only way that OpieRadio Podcast was working as it combined old bits with a more recent one.
So Keith did want to rebrand the channel O&A, yet doing so would require a full partnership between the two men in some way. He offered it, but it came at a cost that Opie wasn't willing to pony up the dough for. Is that what's happening? Ant wasn't kept in the loop, so he's acting like it was the first time he heard about it, because maybe it was. Keith is the one who pitched it to Opie without consulting Ant? Is that right?
No. It seems like KtC offered Opie the ability to "buy in" to owning a piece of the company, making it a full business partnership. Anthony almost certainly OK'd such a proposal.
It's Opie who is a lying boob, saying that he was offered 50% share of the company for simply coming on board.
But apparently there's a FB live where Keith admitted to offering 50% to Opie, at least that's what I'm reading on the sub. I don't follow any of these faggots.
Ofcourse it was, I honestly don't even think the dude knows he's lying, but everything he said this morning was obvious BS (including his "offers"), I think Ant is getting fed up again because this seems to be the same delusional self-worth thing he did between every contract signing. I don't even hate Opie, but everyone's specific disdain for him seems to end up being justified.
I don't think Opie is lying about the offer, a misunderstanding maybe, or maybe he and Keef are both stupid. But it's amazing that - even after being extended an offer of some sort by the only guys still willing to work with him, he proves he is genetically incapable of getting along with anyone by turning this into yet another feud. He's just an asshole, isn't he?
Yeah the more I'm thinking about it the less dramatic it seems but it does speak to his character that he feels he can broadcast this to the world - although he claims Keith did it first. Incompetence on both sides I guess. The real story is whether Ant allowed Keith to potentially sell half his company to his former radio partner or whether Keith at this point is doing and saying whatever before telling Ant about it later. Ant genuinely seemed to not know and most definitely didn't approve - buy in or not.
You're probably right. It's something like this, I don't think there's anything devious going on, but he fact that Opie has somehow made the situation tense or awkward does, as you say, speak to his character. And I'm one of the few people left that actually likes him, despite his flaws, but his flaws are pretty big and very embarrassing. Now enough of this reasonable breakdown by us. Peckahs.
You're probably right. And I'm one of the few people left that actually likes him, despite his flaws, but his flaws are pretty big and very embarrassing. Now enough of this reasonable breakdown by us. Peckahs.
Also - Opie broadcasting this to the world is clearly just a negotiating stunt to let other interested parties know he's in high demand. Whether Ant and Keith are happy with Opie using them like this I don't know.
So can anyone find even one shred of a reason as to why they would ever listen to opie carl vic and sherrod yell-laugh again for 3 hours about nothing? jim norton is the only one out of ALL of them including ant that anyone still wants to listen to! Jim is funny clever and a good listener and for whatever reason, he's easy to listen to for a couple hours. Poor sam has an annoying voice. So it's just Jim!!! So........ opie and everyone else but jim FUK OFF AND DIE A PAINFUL CANCEROUS DEATH!!!!!
Opie expected Ant to just give over half his company he built up for nothing. Ant laughed him out and now Opie is going on the offensive cause he's autistic.
Source: I work at compound media. And by work I mean I clean Gavin's used dildos.
If Keith had sent an offer as explicitly as "you can have half the company" Opie would've kept the text and been able to screen cap it for simple proof. I figure Keith said that Opie could be on a mast head of 'Opie & Anthony' and conflated that to "I'm gunna own half the company fawwwwwk!"
The fact Keith had to reiterate to Opie that his offer was a buy-in tells me Opie was stupid enough to believe Ant would hand him 50% on a platter. What a fucking retard.
yea he was offered half of a whole company via text message by a middle man. If Tits was offered half the company how did he not text Ant at all? Maybe call him be like whats this deal about? It makes no sense real or made up. I hate these people
Probably said already but imo Keith probably offered Opie 50% of whatever show he was bringing to the table. I'm assuming they can track subs and who is watching what, so if Opie Show is responsible for say 10k new subs, he would get 50% on top of whatever salary was offered. Plus a 50% cut of whatever merch is sold. 50% of any advertisement money Opie might bring in. Say Steven Singer sees Opie is back with Ant and buys some ad time. 50% of that.
I can't imagine Keith would offer to give him 50% of the company.
At the end of the day, you have to be amazed that these two shit heads cant pit aside their petty differences to take advantage of what was one a million dollar brand.
The sad thing is they'll only realise this in another five or so years when nobody gives a fuck. By then it'll be a desperate grab of fame and attention by a bunch of sixty something hacks
That would not have been a smart business move for them to give up 50% equity for tweets/other promotion instead of cash, but we are talking about the mastermind behind The Ron & Anthony Show, so who knows.

It is highly likely Opie lied, it is also quite possible - given all available evidence - that Keith is dunderhead.

I believe this is where the truth lies. But given Keith's incredible incompetence at even the most basic negotiations, who knows.

Not even Ant- there is simply no way in hell Opie would ever come in and be subordinate to Keith the fucking Cop
1 JockEwing 2017-08-25
1 jjoharanyc1 2017-08-25
Alright, fellow autist. Lemme try this.
Sumthin, sumthin. Wait...
Peckahs.

WOW....i see a fight going on between Ant and Opie Now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
1 BumbiBestie 2017-08-25
$10 says Keith did make the offer and is lying to Anthony.
1 porsalin 2017-08-25
He did - at a cost. Not sure if Opie was aware of that. Not sure Ant was too! I don't know if Ant would have been happy with Opie owning half the business even with money involved!! Seems like Keith is taking liberties with what he's offering, Opie's talking out of school and misinterpreting what Keith is offering and Ant's as always oblivious.
1 KuukerinNelli 2017-08-25
If you took out all the guess work and speculation from that post you'd be left with - . . ! !! , .
1 porsalin 2017-08-25
Isn't guess work and speculation about 80% of this sub?
1 KuukerinNelli 2017-08-25
I just like how the post started with "Not sure" "Not sure" "I don't know if" and ended with "Opie's talking out of school and misinterpreting what Keith is offering and Ant's as always oblivious." Started with guess work and ended with a statement. It's like those conspiracy nuts when they get into something they get sucked in deeper and deeper in the rabbit hole. You can see starting with don't knows morphing into seems and ending with statement. Not judging, that's how we all are.

1 Kalikhead 2017-08-25
IIt would have "value" if they owned their own tapes of their old shows and ran them as part of the programming. It was the only way that OpieRadio Podcast was working as it combined old bits with a more recent one.
1 Xamtor 2017-08-25
Opie, delusional as he is, misunderstood icoherent babble of a retarded ex-cop.
1 PolarDonkey 2017-08-25
If Opster believed he was going to just be handed 50% of the company for signing on he's a moron. He put it out there like that and got caught.
1 InHell1979 2017-08-25
So Keith did want to rebrand the channel O&A, yet doing so would require a full partnership between the two men in some way. He offered it, but it came at a cost that Opie wasn't willing to pony up the dough for. Is that what's happening? Ant wasn't kept in the loop, so he's acting like it was the first time he heard about it, because maybe it was. Keith is the one who pitched it to Opie without consulting Ant? Is that right?
1 PassProtect15 2017-08-25
No. It seems like KtC offered Opie the ability to "buy in" to owning a piece of the company, making it a full business partnership. Anthony almost certainly OK'd such a proposal.
It's Opie who is a lying boob, saying that he was offered 50% share of the company for simply coming on board.
1 InHell1979 2017-08-25
But apparently there's a FB live where Keith admitted to offering 50% to Opie, at least that's what I'm reading on the sub. I don't follow any of these faggots.
1 PassProtect15 2017-08-25

1 indridcold1 2017-08-25
Ofcourse it was, I honestly don't even think the dude knows he's lying, but everything he said this morning was obvious BS (including his "offers"), I think Ant is getting fed up again because this seems to be the same delusional self-worth thing he did between every contract signing. I don't even hate Opie, but everyone's specific disdain for him seems to end up being justified.
1 CommodorePawsey 2017-08-25
I don't think Opie is lying about the offer, a misunderstanding maybe, or maybe he and Keef are both stupid. But it's amazing that - even after being extended an offer of some sort by the only guys still willing to work with him, he proves he is genetically incapable of getting along with anyone by turning this into yet another feud. He's just an asshole, isn't he?
1 porsalin 2017-08-25
Yeah the more I'm thinking about it the less dramatic it seems but it does speak to his character that he feels he can broadcast this to the world - although he claims Keith did it first. Incompetence on both sides I guess. The real story is whether Ant allowed Keith to potentially sell half his company to his former radio partner or whether Keith at this point is doing and saying whatever before telling Ant about it later. Ant genuinely seemed to not know and most definitely didn't approve - buy in or not.
1 CommodorePawsey 2017-08-25
You're probably right. It's something like this, I don't think there's anything devious going on, but he fact that Opie has somehow made the situation tense or awkward does, as you say, speak to his character. And I'm one of the few people left that actually likes him, despite his flaws, but his flaws are pretty big and very embarrassing. Now enough of this reasonable breakdown by us. Peckahs.
1 CommodorePawsey 2017-08-25

1 porsalin 2017-08-25
Also - Opie broadcasting this to the world is clearly just a negotiating stunt to let other interested parties know he's in high demand. Whether Ant and Keith are happy with Opie using them like this I don't know.
1 Jungies 2017-08-25
That might worth both ways - Opie could have rented the Tesla to make Keith and Ant think he was in some sort of demand.

Jim is funny clever and a good listener and for whatever reason, he's easy to listen to for a couple hours. Poor sam has an annoying voice. So it's just Jim!!!
1 porsalin 2017-08-25
The fact Keith had to reiterate to Opie that his offer was a buy-in tells me Opie was stupid enough to believe Ant would hand him 50% on a platter. What a fucking retard.
1 PolarDonkey 2017-08-25
and he still didn't take it, imagine what Opie thinks of CM
1 segasarnold 2017-08-25
yea he was offered half of a whole company via text message by a middle man. If Tits was offered half the company how did he not text Ant at all? Maybe call him be like whats this deal about? It makes no sense real or made up. I hate these people

Keith's plan was to give Opie part of the company, make it the O&A network, and then buy Riotcast
1 Senators86 2017-08-25
So basically Opie represented an offer for him to BUY 50% of the company as an offer to GIVE HIM 50% of the company. What a douche.
1 LookyLookyMissCookie 2017-08-25
I believe opie. Ktc is an idiot. Remember when it was going to be the Ron & Anthony Show.
1 glyde69 2017-08-25
Probably said already but imo Keith probably offered Opie 50% of whatever show he was bringing to the table. I'm assuming they can track subs and who is watching what, so if Opie Show is responsible for say 10k new subs, he would get 50% on top of whatever salary was offered. Plus a 50% cut of whatever merch is sold. 50% of any advertisement money Opie might bring in. Say Steven Singer sees Opie is back with Ant and buys some ad time. 50% of that.
I can't imagine Keith would offer to give him 50% of the company.
1 realister 2017-08-25
Pretty sure Artie now owns 50% of Compound or close to that.
1 mb0087 2017-08-25
Will Artie last? Coupled with losing Gavin, CM is likely on its last stages.
The grand irony is that O&A are still entertaining us, albeit in very unexpected ways.
1 Humble_is_great 2017-08-25
To be fair I wouldn't put it past Keith to make a bad deal.
1 Pompey_ 2017-08-25

1 JockEwing 2017-08-25
