That's possible, but I think there is also a good chance Gregg is so insecure that he fears how vulnerable he would look in others' eyes trying to carry a podcast by himself now that he lacks a budget to pay people to appear and lacks a a company backing him.
At Sirius, he was a highly paid host on a corporate roster with a staff and apparent power in his position. With a podcast, he'd be just one of countless other podcasters and the equalization that'd bring frightens him. The value of the Opie Show to guests was probably 5% Opie himself (the brand of one half of a once-popular radio duo) and 95% that it was on a large platform that people might be listening to and Opie must realize that.
Also, he has nothing to contribute and has no interesting opinions. He can't talk to other people and his new lack of status opens him up to ridicule by others. Plus, he has big titties.
