Sounds like people are mostly being sensible in that thread actually, unless I'm missing something.
The infuriating thing is that although Reddit is the most leftist website I've ever participated in, there are a small but vocal minority of Redditors (SRS, SRD, Circlebroke and their ilk) that think Reddit is too right wing (!), and they use the above thread as evidence that Reddit is some sort of dystopian racist hellhole.
"They're criticizing Pakistanis in r/news! Reddit is racist!" while ignoring the child abuse context.

This isn't news. The general public doesn't care about kids being molested. The only reason anyone brings it up anymore is to virtue signal.
