You've got to give the niggers credit because they're as stupid as the Aztecs but at least they've produced genuinely funny, original people in the arts. Murphy, Pryor, Washington, Chappelle. The list goes on. They're not as good on the writing/production side -- that's what Jews are for -- but whatever.
But the Aztecs seem to be obsessed with this hacky shit. Embarrassing.
Well for one I think it's really hard to film genuinely compelling sports footage in a drama. You didn't think the sports scenes were good?
Second it's a film that humanizes the ghetto which is hard to do -- and I'm the biggest racist I know so this took a lot.
Amazing Copland score. Classical story of redemption and forgiveness. Pro-family. Genuinely traditional in the kind of radical way that doesn't usually get produced in Hollywood I think.
I'm tearing up right now remembering it TBH.
What isn't there to like about that film?
(BTW are you telling me that final game between father and son wasn't good fucking drama? It was like I was watching a Greek epic.)
Was it your first Spike Lee movie? I felt the same way when I saw Do The Right Thing for the first time. Before that, I had just watched Disney movies, sitcoms, Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Goonies, Stand By Me, etc. But then I saw Do The Right Thing and my mind was blown. You felt like someone did a documentary about your neighborhood. I guess by the time He Got Game came around 10 years later though, I was mostly like yeah, yeah, yeah, Spike we get it with the overwrought melodramatic horseshit. That final game might be what I hate the most. I didn't feel like I was watching a Greek epic. I felt like I was watching someone try really hard to make it epic. But it wasn't. It was a boring and predictable scene and storyline. And it was overly produced and overacted. As Patrice said about Face-Off being too John Woo-ish with the doves, etc., so it is with Spike and all of his unnecessary tricks
I just watched it. George Lopez panders to the uneducated, "hood" Latinos. He glorifies shit like family neglect, intolerance to Special Needs children and people with allergies (says things like Peanut allergies and anxiety disorders are "made up"). Oh, and of course promotes racism towards White people.
I cringed when he said Latinos don't go to the doctor 'cus they tell you not to have fun in your life.
He hates Erik Estrada 'cus he didn't shake his hand in childhood, but I don't see Erik Estrada promoting ignorance the way he does (maybe he's an easy target 'cus he's Puerto Rican and they aren't that deep in the West Coast?)

All immigrant comedians resort to hacky stereotype humor. They're all the same jokes with different ethnicities inserted depending on the comic.

We all have that dad that said this one phrase a lot.

Even though George Lopez totally is that, I think he's still funny and enjoyed his earlier specials.

When the fuck did He Got Game become a great sports movie? It sucked. I saw it in the theater the day it came out. I've never watched it again.

I think I'd seen a few before that -- I watched it first when I was a teenager though so it's hard to be sure.
But I get your point.
