This movie is the very definition of "useless." You're no Bronson, Bruce. Nice to see Dean Norris, though. Now whenever I see Willis I can only think about what a raging cock he must've been to work with.
not a fan of Bruce Willis, either. I've heard about them remaking this for years. I didn't know they were actually doing it, though.
At best, it doesn't look enragingly awful, but it does seem pretty forgettable.
It looks pretty competent but you're right -- forgettable. The original was socially and culturally relevant during a tumultuous era of the nation's history, and it felt real; this looks like any number of sleek, souless action movies pumped out in the last ten years. Not to mention this story's been done to death over forty years anyway.
No. Honestly, I thought about that before I typed it in but it still came out anyway. Was in a rush.
While I'm here, Eastwood better not die soon. If he does, they'll undoubtedly pump out a fucking unnecessary Dirty Harry remake shortly after. As long as he's alive they won't have the guts. (I think it's more about that than actual respect)
If Charles Bronson hadn't died years ago they wouldn't be pulling this shit.
It was originally going to be directed by Joe Carnahan, with Frank Grillo starring. Wish that version had happened instead. Carnahan still gets sole screenplay credit even though something like a dozen other guys did a pass on it. It'll be a shock if it doesn't end up feeling very cobbled together. At least with Eli Roth directing the murder scenes will have some pizzazz. Bruce Willis is very much in the Bronson mold: tough-guy prototype who basically plays himself in everything. Still, the casting has a whiff of laziness. "Will the wife and daughter be raped?" could make or break my personal reaction to the film.

Hopefully Otto won't be rolling in his grave.

Your time code made it harder to notice because it was said before that: it's set in Chicago, so Mancow could be in it playing himself.
