They're laughing all the way to the bank. Their show with Connick Jr will go on for 5+ years and they'll make tens of millions of dollars as creator/producers of a syndicated daytime show. They'll retire fairly young, enjoy their loving families and immense wealth while Opie spirals into mental illness, divorce and bankruptcy.
Don't get me wrong, the Stangels fucking stink, but they'll be just fine and the Opie Radio part of their career will be a distant memory soon.
I have no pity for them. They came into an environment they knew was mean. They were "fans of the show" for years and sent in lines to Opie. They knew how Erock was treated and probably laughed at it, despite Fat Stengel looking like a cartoon tranny.
Fucker had a cutesy Fred Flintstone pic as his twitter avatar. That's not something he should have done.
Yes. Can someone direct me to an explanation of the stangels saga, who they were, why they were horrible, etc. When it was happening I didn't even pay attention to it.
They were hired as writers by the Late Show with Letterman around 2000, maybe even earlier, then elevated to co-exec producers about 5 years later. They basically presided over the decline of that show, and were twitter friends with O&A, having been longtime fans.
When Twitter first came out, they would chime in during the show with tweets to O or A, and I think they all socialized a bit during that time.
When Letterman retired in 2015 they were also let go. They formed their own production company and started pitching shows, but for a short term they signed on with OpieRadio to act as producers/writers. One brother was determined to not be not the air, and the one pictured here seemed to be okay with it at first.
Like Stern used Jackie and later Benjy to write jokes on notecards during the show, Opie tried to get the Stangels to text him jokes on the fly. It failed miserably because their sense of humor is pretty lame, and Opie sucks at reading. Plus they were putting out videos by then and it was pretty obvious on camera.
Pete Davidson, and a few other guests to a lesser extent, started ripping into this Stangel heavily about halfway into their year long contract. It was pretty funny. The abuse was too much for them, then Opie turned on them for cheap laughs one day and they walked. It was actually pretty respectable, even though they are horrendously unfunny douchebags. They claimed that Opie lied to them, and mistreated them, and that they were just trying to do him a favor until they sold a show.
They created and co-produce Harry Connick Jr's daytime talk show now, and probably will for a few more years, making far more money than Opie ever did.
Also of note, their father is one of the inventors of the pacemaker, or some such cardiac device that has saved lots of lives.
Thank you. That all sounds really funny, especially this:

No. It took me a couple seconds to even even remember what you're talking about then I was like oh yeah the fat guys with jackets and jokes I didn't care about.
Outside of the time they walked off the air, I haven't heard them on the air or listened to the show they were producing. They were certainly the lowest point, even considering Opie's solo.
I fucking hate the Stangels. Being morbidly obese, yet spending that much money and effort on your appearance, as if you're fooling anyone. Fucking fat house-wives.
I don't know how you get to be that big and not feel uncomfortable in public. I got to 300lbs and realized I needed to treat myself better because I felt ashamed of my man tits and poor posture, now I'm a 105lbs lighter and can't fathom ever being that heavy again.
I'll answer the question seriously. The Pete Davidson incident alone might disqualify it. But, other than that, it was painfully dull. Chris D sucked. I don't know why he stopped doing the show, but that made the show a lot better.
Wasn't there a show where Ope called out the fans saying the Stangels weren't texting him jokes, the video did show them typing on their phone, and seconds later Opie coincidentally got a text. It was quite douchey..

"their father is one of the inventors of the pacemaker "
Fitting, since both Stangels will probably die from angina.

300 lbs, that's usually when people realize it's time to rethink things. Waiting until 310 would just be silly.
