Personal Conspiracy Theory: Gregg wasn't only trying to get Patrice sign to Sirius just because he was talented, but because Gregg wanted a fallback plan when he was planning on leaving O&A. Too bad Patrice died, but at least Gregg didn't get to exploit him.

You really think Patrice would have wanted a show with a guy who's inflated, talentless ego is as inflated and empty as his tits?

Money is a hell of a drug.

The FreeFM bosses and Eric Logan wanted to replace Norton with Patrice. They thought he was a better fit for mornings after he filled in for Jimmy while he was in LA filming Lucky Louis.

It's been discussed before. I think Jim even brought it up during one of the Jim vs somebody fights. XM almost fired him because of the lawsuit he brought on to the company as well.

I don't know if he said they wanted Patrice, but it was said during the 2014 fight with Opie, that they just wanted him on satellite. I guess because Patrice was able to do a much better clean show than Jimmy was, since he could talk about things and not just chime in "lol Andrea Yates!"

Yeah, you might be right on mentioning Patrice specifically. I can't think of audio of where he was specifically mentioned as a replacement. But for some reason, my OA autism has me believing that Opie brought up the hiring of Patrice. Not to directly replace Jim, but there were clear undertones of him doing exactly that.

I don't remember it being said beyond "another comic", but Patrice would be the only one it could be. Louis CK wasn't on enough, Vos wasn't as good at clean radio as Patrice was, Burr did too many gigs to have the time for it.

Yeah, Louis was already too famous. The only canidates at the time would have been Patrice, DeRosa, Jeffries (hadn't hit mainstream yet), maybe Bobby.

Patrice would NEVER have went with Opie. Not a chance. If he were alive he'd be one of Opies "backstabbers".

Patrice wouldn't have done it. He wasn't interested in doing anything full time besides his stand up. He turned down The Man Show, he quit Web Junk, he didn't put up much effort to pitch his own TV show to anybody. He wasn't going to do 5 days with Opie (or even Anthony) for years.

legend says, gregg is still on the phone with patrice; loffin n loffin

Think about all the shit thrown at Jim over the years. Early on, all the talk of replacing him. CBS wanting to fire him. I'm beginning to think Opie wanted him gone the more he was able to riff with Anthony. Opie might have been pushing to get rid of him for years. Hell, he wanted Anthony gone.
