no it was his inability to hang with the guys. he couldn't be the butt of the joke but was more than happy to trash anyone. opie was just nasty when compared to ant, as he never wanted to be seen as flawed. what made ant so likeable was that he loved being goofed on while opie hated it.

I had a date with this girl once. We were being all romantic strolling on the boardwalk. She was eating cotton candy. We sat on a bench to make out. Or at least that's what I thought. Out of nowhere, she just started beating me with the cotton candy and laughing maniacally at me. I felt humiliated and degraded. I was wearing some preppy shirt I had bought for the date. The shit was all over it. She got pissed and said I had no sense of humor. I whimpered like a bitch about paying $75 for the shirt. She told me I got ripped off. I stared at the machine that turned Tom Hanks back into a little boy in Big and thought am I being like Opie here, unable to get or take a joke? Or is she like Opie by overcompensating for being a humorless cunt by doing dumb pranks? One of life's greatest mysteries probably most easily explained by the fact that she'd see Rich Vos at The Stand tomorrow night than suck my pecka on the boardwalk
