Opie will never understand that the Roland video isn't the real reason he was fired.

It was just an excuse to get rid of him early. They wanted to move on with the channel and Opie was no longer worth the money or the fucking hassle. Can't wait to dissect his shitty podcast.

Not that anyone who video tapes a coworker taking a shit should expect to keep their job.

No they shouldn't. But if your radio show is successful, management will do anything they can to avoid having to fire you. If Opie filmed Roland in 2008 it wouldn't have been an issue.

If it was in 2008 Opie would be using his FLIP Camcorder.

The laws he broke were on the books in 2008. '
This is serious shit. He broke NY State law, and set Roland up for millions in damages from Sirius, as he was technically Roland's boss.
This is the kind of fuck up they'd fire Howard over. Image what the stockholders would react if it got out that one of their employees was violating people's rights and breaking the law videotaping them in company bathrooms, and wasn't fired.
Yeah, that's not happening. If he'd done this back in 2008 he'd have been tossed out on his ass just as fast. He put Sirius into a precarious legal position with his stupidity and childishness.

he filmed jimmy in the toilet around 2009 and uploaded it to youtube and nothing was done about it, slightly different situation but still..

Opie filming the Roland video is a literally felony.

We better get to reporting this serious crime to the NYPD. # opieforprison

Nothing is a felony if no charges are filed

That remains to be seen - nobody knows what's going on right now - if what I think is happening is, you won't get even a whisper of it, it's all locked door stuff.
I have an email out to a family member in NY who's a lawyer, to find out if Sirius has to report a felony if they discover he committed one on company property. Capturing audio is STRICTLY forbidden without a warrant and by the police in the workplace, it's an automatic felony. Gregg used his phone to record Roland. I highly doubt he turned the audio off.
The reason why there's seemingly nothing happening because it's a criminal investigation. They may be getting a subpeona to get access to Gregg's phone and account. They may be interviewing people. God knows Sirius is going through his email.
No charges have been filed...yet - and it won't be by Sirius or Roland. That's now how it works.
Patience.

Roland better sue Opie.

Honestly, my guess is that Opie refused to meet with HR and that's what got him fired. Not the actual incident.
n/a shaqfan99 2017-07-07
If that's the case, I would think he'd be following his personal lawyer's advice. perhaps it was a situation where the lawyer told him "dare them to fire you," because you may personally be held financially liable if you admit it.

It's because he brought up a recent HR case on-air. HR can strike that down with Opie's history of siccing fans on other radio shows, mostly to protect the company from being fingered in some kind of Milo/Leslie Jones-esque "inciting a mob" allegations.

He thought he had juice but it was just milk
n/a TheDannySaint 2017-07-07
They were looking for any excuse to fire him after the Howard studio incident.
n/a just_lou 2017-07-07
All that matters is the news is reporting that he was fired for recording a video of a man using the bathroom.
n/a Peckas1 2017-07-07
I disagree. Repeated sexual harassment in the workplace is no small matter.

I wonder if this triggered some sort of morality clause and management just seized the moment.

Yeah, Sirius has been cracking down on the shockjockery for a while now, and the last thing they needed was some middle-aged adolescent crying on a media platform about his lack of an office. If it wasn't this it would be something else.

Middle aged?

Opie has always overplayed his hand and overestimated his value to any of the companies he worked for. It's like a backup special teams player falling asleep in a team meeting, he gets cut and the QB and RB can do the same thing with repercussions.

Is nobody going to mention that Opie only filmed Roland so he could jerk off to watching it later while Lynsi fucked her bull?
n/a brmlb 2017-07-07
I thought the same, but it seems like a big deal. And why wouldnt it, in the context of uppity bitches who dont want their vaginas filmed in bathrooms?
n/a Joemomma101 2017-07-07
He knows... That's why he isn't that angry. There is clearly way more to his firing then we know. It's all behind the scenes shit. The same as Anthony. He knew they were not going to re-sign him. The writing had been on the wall for quite a while now.

imagine the games come October if they wanted a soft landing on this. They needed to pull the bandaid off and get it over with. I imagine the back rooms in the office to have had a Godfather style ending when the word came out that he was fired. Luis and niggerlips clearly knew and just said it in public before the announcement.

It was payback for going into the Stern Show studios...and a lot of other things. Real corporate bureauracy shit. And we had to sit back and take it.

I hope this drives Lindsay back into band arms, and makes the opster slit his own wrists with his shark tooth necklace, because he's been doing radio since he was 18.
