I wouldn't say Howard is stupid. Annoying, certainly (although this is a much better Howard than the post-Artie one.) And I certainly wouldn't say he's as dumb as Opie, since I believe Howard has read books after college.

But nobody in New York was going to be live on air for 9/11 being profound and witty. We were all fucking scared. O&A had the benefit of going on hours later.

the 9/11 show was actually pretty good, they balanced being serious and talking shit very well. the 9/11 O&A show was just them going, "I CANT FAWWKIN BELIEVE IT DUDE" for 3 hours

Dennis Leary's "Asshole" song was the highlight of comedy back then. There was a lot of shit being put out.
