I hate to analyze throwaway comedy lines, but for all the hens bitching "WHY DIDN'T HE NAME OPIE AND SAY IT TO HIS FACE?," this is funnier! A little inside reference to the busty retard that all of us obsessives get followed by a "yuckghhh" is more entertaining than "you know who else tries to get catchphrases to happen? Opie. His catchphrases are dumb and will never catch on."

Initially, yes, this was the funnier way to do it. More of More than a year later, however, the act has worn thin. It's not about the jokes anymore, we wanna see Opie lose it.

I do too, but there's no upside for Jimmy. Opie has almost zero power over him (except potentially keeping one of Opie's core "comics" from doing his show). If Jimmy attacks he'll be (fairly or not) seen as petty/ungrateful for attacking the guy who gave him his start in radio and whose morning slot he took over.

What he's doing now is entertaining without going over that line.
