It is amazing. One of my favorite shows, and vastly superior to the original series (although maybe it's just dated for me; I never watched it during its original run).
That scene with that bitch laughing was horrible too, atleast Lynch is keeping that shit to a minimal this season and going full bore into WTF territory.

i think the original is still worth watching, though it loses steam by the end of the second season. the new series is almost completely independent from the original, i'm on episode 7 and i've counted about 30 separate plot lines, only one of which has to do with laura palmer.
Not all fans of a given show are fairly represented by fans on reddit. For example, Opie seems to mysteriously have some fans, but you'd never know it from looking here. And Twin Peaks has a broad enough appeal that it appeals to some wretched broads.

The fans are fucking shit. Stupid faggots. I've posted this before, but after the most brutal episode yet, (where Joe Rogan killed two women with an ice pick, a kid was hit by a truck, etc) reddit's biggest smile from the episode was some fat bitch doing a cute laugh.
