In defense of passive-aggressive Jimmy

Subtlety is always more entertaining than bluntness. Part of the comedic value of these swipes is that everyone knows who Jimmy is talking about except for the retard he's actually talking about.
By analogy, when the show talks about a photoshop of their morbidly obese coworker, would it really improve the show for someone to blurt out "IT'S EROCK THEY'RE TALKING ABOUT! EROCK IS FAT!"?
This was literally Opie's gimmick on the show for years. Jim and Ant would make some whale reference about Erock and Opie would remove all comedy by going "GET IT? IT'S CAUSE HE'S FAT!"

I don't mind passive-aggressive Jimmy. I'd be angry though if Jimmy doesn't cut the shit and lay it in on him when Opie finally snaps from it.

I think this is it. Jimmy is actually being an adult, and I know most of us fans want to hear him go off about Opie but I think hes just waiting for Opie to give him a reason. If Jim just goes out and attacks it makes him look childish and like the bad guy, it allows Opie to play victim which is where he likes to fight

I think passive aggressive Jim is more a problem in the DL hugely vs Jim type of moments ... if he's trying to be funny its fine

But he's had no problem directly attacking Opie in the past. Opie has virtually no power over him now except potentially keeping a few mediocre comics off his show, so every attack has been in the form of a funny inside reference. If Opie directly attacks him, I don't think he'd have a problem hitting back.

How many times can a person tell the"my ex co-worker is a cunt lol" joke? Not to mention no new listeners would care or know wtf he's trying to say, if they had any
