Jimmy's beef with D.L Hughely which resulted in the "we aren't that close" argument turned out to be an intensely woman-like grudge that he built up in his own mind over practically nothing. Oh well, he's just a boy.

He always said he liked Denny, but didn't like him on the show. Since he's had him co-host now, my theory is that he didn't like that they'd bring him in there and then (mostly Opie) would bash him for an hour for caring very much about doing his job well, and subtle jabs that he did make the kind of money they did. I haven't gone back and listened, but I think Opie did most of the bashing, and not Anthony.

He didn't like them because he cried they got away with doing shit on Comedy Central that comics couldn't.

I don't buy the whole "Didn't like Opie bashing him" or "Thought Denny jokes were overdone" because Jimmy let every other person come in and get overused/bashed. Notably, on days where Opie was gone Jimmy still refused to let Denny come-in to be second or third mic. The only other guests we know of that Jimmy refused to appear with are D.L Hugely and Stunt-Brain, both for petty reasons (Both for Jimmy personal gigs they canceled on). My guess has to do with Denny agreeing to do something for Jimmy and cancelled which ignited Jimmy's ire and he banned him like the previous two. He only allowed Denny to come back onto the show either because they made-up during the shake-up, or Sam simply pressured Jimmy to let Denny back-on to help stabilize the show initially.
