This is very field dependent, but in general, reproducing an experiment is extremely hard. That's why periodic literature reviews are so important. It summarizes recent findings by different researchers and narrows the uncertainties and unanswered questions of the topic. It's disappointing that it's become so political, now research has to be worried about the social connotations with it or they won't get funding .. the nazi's had it right.
Scientists are funded by for-profit entities. It's not a surprise they bullshit their experiments. Dow Chemical gives them millions in grants to say their pesticides are healthy and then the scientists can use some of the money to research whatever gay shit they're into.
