i agree 100%. when people on here actually give opie radio a chance they realize it is a great show. a lot of people on here have messaged me saying how much they love the show and thanking me for telling them to give it a chance.
Both shows are anal vomit, but it's hard to argue that Opie and his zoo crew don't make better radio than Jim & Sam. I wish that weren't the case, but it is.
Opie's show is shit... But at least it's a radio show. They have willing participants and they talk about current events and hot topics. J&S consists of ill-informed WWE and diet talk, boring guest interviews that Jim uses as verbal masturbation, and both hosts playing with their phones and just generally acting like they don't want to be there. Opie sucks ass, but he tries a lot harder than those two dullards. At the end of the day, Opie knows radio a lot fucking better than Jim or Sam. He knows what people (other people, not us) want to listen to. Opie's show doesn't appeal to the old O&A fans, but it does appeal to a lot of "cool dad" types. Jim & Sam appeals to almost nobody.
Opie is worse just because of the high opinion he has of himself. There's a site that streams Howard Stern from the 80's and 90's that I've been listening to, and it's so incredibly creepy how much of a copy cat little worm Opie is. That whole attitude of how he's so famous and popular that he can do whatever he wants is exactly how that nobody acted back in the early O&A shows.
Opie's like some cheap Chinese copy product that imitates the superficial easy stuff and doesn't bother to put any of the real essence into it. He burps and says creepy stuff at inappropriate times, but he isn't witty, funny, or interesting. I was a high schooler when I first started to listen to O&A, so now it's easy to see how it was mostly just derivative bullshit.
Sam's delusions of grandeur have become very evident. It's certainly rivals Opie's delusions.
However as bad as Jim and Sam's show might be, it is far better than any show featuring Carl Ruiz. If Carl were to be euthanized, it would be more difficult to pick the better show.
