Exactly and when looking back at the "glory days" you only remember the 1% that really stood out. There has always been shit, we just don't remember it.
Comics have too many platforms to be seen these days. Before internet the entertainment industry had a stringent system in place to weed out most of the awful comedians so they couldn't be inflicted on the masses. Now it's just a free for all where any hack open mic comic can do a podcast any label themselves a stand up comedian.

too much money for everyone. I liked when a comic could barely afford a cup of coffee.

99% of anything is always going to be shit. Whether it be music, TV shows, movies, or comedy. Enjoy the 1% and call it a day

This is true. Everyone thinks old music was great because the 99% of it that was shitty has been forgotten.

The 90s sucked dick, everything bout it was schlock and cringeinducing horseshit. Cowabunga maaan radical!
Consider this, an Opie like person was beloved in the 90's, his humor and way of behaving would be the bombdigidy back then.

Comedy was always the same. Hacks get pushed because the public likes mediocrity, the greats tend to have little more than large cult followings.
