Do people actually find political humor funny?

I'm talking both sides of the coin. I've never found political comedy to be actually funny unless it just devolves into an childish insult contest like calling Hillary Clinton a robotic cunt or Trump the king of the Oompa Loompas.

Actual "comedic" analysis of policies and political climates, I find, are rarely funny even when I agree with them.

Politicians are all crooks, that's what I say!

From your mouth to gods ears.

You know how to tell if a politicians lying? His mouth is moving.. but whadda I know, I'm just a regular Joe.

I know how to tell if they're lying, HE'S A GOD-DAMNED JEW!

Not a Mort Sahl fan?

Don't blame comedy for comedians' being shitty at it.

Of course our smart, political comics' takes are all garbage. They spend their days half-watching cable news while kissing celebrity ass on Twitter. Is that the way to come up with a startling new angle on world events—or are they gonna just vaguely remind us of shit we all already kinda half-read about and half-heard on TV too?

"You all know about insert Republican thing. I mean like wow. That guy is unfuckable, white, and/or gay (but not the good kind)." [applause disintegrates the last black holdout in the gentrified neighborhood]

I'm not saying standups should be studying Candide and The Merchant Of Venice to learn how political comedy works. They can't fucking read.

They're in it for the applause breaks.

Norm Macdonald made it work.

I liked the old Colbert show in the GWB days.
