I remember listening to this live. At first I could understand his point if there were info I was unaware of, but in hindsight it seems that Conan just would never have thought of O&A because they were insignificant.
What the fuck would Conan O'Brien gain from showing up on your radio show? His ratings were higher, he was more famous, and he even had a better comedic reputation at one time. It just seems pathetic and such a minor thing to do now.
He did this to Adam Sandler as well, and I think it was met with equal silence.
He did this a few times against Conan too, and I believe the second time he said "I know you guys don't mind him but..."
Plus Opie never said anything positive about Conan. Stern was negative on him in the beginning of Late Night, but everybody was until 1996. Opie had 10 years to praise Conan by this point and he never did beyond if one of the regulars was a guest on Late Night. He had Louis CK on all the time and had an opportunity to bring Conan up since CK was a writer on the first 3 years of the show. So why would he go on your show instead of Stern if you aren't even saying "Late Night is funny."
That was the biggest movie in the world at the time and delusional Opie couldn't understand why JJ Abrams wouldn't want to plug the movie on Opie Raqio
Wow did you hear how Sam is so eager beaver to rat E-Rock out? That's how you slime your way to cohost. And it is interesting to listen to these vintage pieces back when Sam and Opie were both on the air together. It's like watching breaking bad for the second time. You know what's gonna happen to the two of them and it's more enjoyable knowing.
Once again with the cheap Stern knockoff: become a working class hero by taking shots at the powers that be. Stern would do that to get attention and to eventually get the guy on the show. It worked for Opie with Sarah Jessica Parker. But Opie was never good at it. Howard was vicious and insightful when he attacked people, so it was hard for celebrities to ignore his attacks the more relevant Howard became. For example, it's easier to ignore Stern now because he's irrelevant and his critiques these days seem soft because they're based on him being ignorant and out of touch. It's easy to laugh off his commentary now instead of cringing like back in the day because you know he's exposed an awkward truth. Opie however has always been a dolt. He lacks the insight to hook the people he attacks. He somehow thinks that just because he abuses everyone who works for him that the same tactics will work on those who don't.

Well Gregg always had dreams of hosting a televised talk show, so I understand his one sided beef with Conan
