So does the person see the other article and for some weird reason decides to do their own version? Or did some other site post about it and now these guys are both passing this shit off as original?

Oh come on, how do you explain the coincidence? It's not like this news broke today. Some nobody from an article written a few weeks ago. Where did you see it? I dont see it on the front page of nbc news.
