Of course they were trying to spin the non-premium thing as being awesome (one channel number, more availability to listeners etc.), but to me it just means SiriusXM has given up on trying to gain any extra revenue from the channel because A) few if any new people are subscribing, and B) the content isn't worth it.

This could be the company's way of saying "let's make this change and give it six months to see if there's any uptick in listenership or ad revenue before we decide to blow the whole thing up".
