Anyone watching the new series of Fargo?

I'm ignoring that alien horseshit that happen last season, but it seems alright, Ewan McGregors accent as "Emmit" sounds a little rough, but I know fuck all about Minnesota.

I'll wait till it's almost done and then watch it in my own time. Sick of people talking about TV shows the second they air. I've got 2 months of that coming up with Game of Thrones and Walking Dead.

lol you're the guy that loves to think you're above small talk,

"Fuck this water cooler talk, let me hear you say something REAL MAAAAAN"

No, I just really don't want the girls at work overhear me talk about dragons and zombies. I'm trying to be the cool one.

go and identify with the main character in office space

Mary Elizabeth Winstead is a fucking piece of ass. Goddamn.

Ewan McGregor is one of my favorite actors. His accent is all over the place, but I'm sure he'll do a great job in his roles.

Carrie Coon is an underrated actress.

I have high hopes. And yeah, hopefully no alien horseshit.

Yeah hopefully, just wondering why you would thin Carrie coon is underrated. I only know her from "Gone girl". Is "The Leftovers" any good?

I probably should have said "up and coming". Plus I think she has beautiful eyes because I'm an old man.

I don't know if The Leftovers is "good". It's a lot of Lost-esque throwing in vague mystery after vague mystery in order to seem like there's some deeper meaning when nothing really fucking happens.

I'll say the performances are great, the musical score is great and (and this is going to sound really gay) it's kind of a "don't think about it, just experience it" kind of deal. Some of the episodes build up to kind of an emotional crescendo which, paired with the good score, work pretty well, though I can't really explain why.

Plus it just started season three, the final season, so they knew when to get out before making it drag. I'd check it out if you have nothing else on the docket.

(and this is going to sound really gay)

yep

Some of the episodes build up to kind of an emotional crescendo which, paired with the good score, work pretty well

Thats pretty gay for this mans man of a sub. I've heard it was good and will give it watch. Thanks man.

The leftovers is very good. I think stuff happens though, the mysteries in the series are not for nothing. Also it hasnt ended yet and much is still unexplained at this point. That's kinda what makes it good too because watching it you dont really care about explanations to the mysteries because theres a lot of well made original concepts but maybe thats just me. Underated series imo.

/u/Opprobriousness is being a bit of a half-fag right now or at least 25%. He's on point mostly when it comes to why The Leftovers is so fucking good.

But there is no "vague mystery" shoehorned into episodes in order to grasp at deeper meaning. There is one mystery: A small but significant portion of the world population disappeared and there is no reason why that happened.

The show isn't about the mystery and the "why" it's about the people dealing with the aftermath.

Carrie Coon wants to find a "deeper meaning" and Justin Theroux (the other main character) couldn't give less of a fuck about the deeper meaning he just wants to steer the ship and keep things normal.

Season 2 is one of the best seasons of television in years and season 1 is great. Carrie Coon is a big reason for both.

So watch The Leftovers but I'd definitely recommend putting it off until there is enough time in your schedule to binge the first 3 episodes in a row.

I enjoyed it. It's a drama, not car chases and shootouts, so if you're not into character and story, it won't be your thing.

I will forever love Mark Renton, but Ewan's accent is fucking atrocious in Fargo.

Yeah, I can't tell what he's going for.

Watching it later, but saw season 1 and 2. I really wish they would hire more comedians to do shows like this. Quirky true crime is really funny to me for some reason.

The thing is most comedians aren't good enough actors for a series like this. Bob Odenkirk was great in season 1 but he's more of an actor than a comedian these days.

I heard Jim Gaffigan is in this series, is he any good?

Some comedians are decent actors, at least for small roles like this. Kirsten Dunst was phenomenal season 2 though.

He wasn't in episode one, but Mary Elizabeth Winstead's bare ass was.

Must have been distracted by something because I missed that scene. Guess I'll have to watch it again.

I just Googled the scene and it's clear they digitally edited out her pussy lips out of scene. How do you know it's her and not an ass model?

She said on Twitter it was her ass and based on her nudes I'm inclined to believe it

Season 2 sucked.

If by sucked, you mean was fantastic television, then I agree

It was a good watch for most of the season, but at the end when it was obvious the writers ran out of time to think of any good resolutions or endpoints, it kinda negated it all.

I just finished it the other day and this describes exactly how I feel. The show started so promising and then fizzled out. The first season is one of the best seasons of all time.

Yeah, season 1 was so out of nowhere and great, and season 2 was looking like it had really interesting shit in store and was going to be as good or better....but then like I said I was just super obvious they didn't have enough time to figure out a good place for the story they set up to actually go. I have some hope for season 3 but I'm not eager to dive in, I only watched the preview for next weeks episode and it already has me worried that they are quadrupling down on how it's funny and quirky that they say eh and have those accents

Bokeem Pekkahvine stole season 2. That Burn Notice guy played a hell of a villian as well.

I despise burn notice and especially that guy, but he was great in Fargo

Agreed!!

You seem like the last person who still says "I just threw up in my mouth a little." If you actually agreed with me I would have to question my judgement.

That an odd take that I fervently disagree with

It was all over the place. The plot was muddled and the ending was unsatisfying. Just ringing up the body count doesn't make a show good.

What do you think about Ewan McGregors accent as Ray?

I am pathetically impressed by a actor playing two roles.

The ending was SHIT. I thought it was okay but there was a big long set up without a payoff. Season 1 kicked its ass.

Fucking loved season 1 and 2. I think 2 especially. I did watch the first episode but I think I'm gonna hold off for a couple of months until they're all in the bag so I can bingewatch them (yea, I'll be downloading illegally). Looked extremely promising. Ewen's accent is indeed all over the place but it doesn't matter. So was McNulty's in The Wire. Also looking forward to S3 of Better Call Saul, S4 of Silicon Valley, and especially S7 of GoT. I can assure you I'll be watching all of these alone without a trace of a girlfriend in sight. Turns out my decision to spend all my life being a pathetic alcoholic who watches a lot of tv didn't particularly pay off.

At least youre interesting on Reddit

We can't all live up to our Reddit usernames, unfortunately.

I wonder if Better Call Saul is going to be another full season of explaining why his brother isn't running the law firm. It's like a more boring explanation of why Gavin isn't at Vice.

The alien shit from 2 is based on a real incident, thought it was really stupid when I watched it but I guess this makes it ok.

I miss Mike Milligan

He fucking ruled every scene he was in. He was also Massive Genius on the Sopranos, it took me a hot minute to figure out why he seemed so familiar.

Season, not series

I like how Carrie Coon's ex-husband is a faggot

Progressive shit like that really keeps me watching

I like how her last name is a synonym for 'negro'. It's quite endearing.

Haven't seen the new one yet, but first two seasons Fargo my fav show on tv. Waiting until later tonight to pop 75mg of Oxy, get in the zone, and watch it.

Ewan has never done a good accent other than his native Scottish.

Their accents are like people who do the dumb hippie surfer guy when they're imitating Californians
