If you want to hate Louis (and why not) listen to his last appearance on Marc Maron where he discusses Horace and Pete. He talks about all the time he cries while writing it and thinking about what these characters went through.

I can't remember if it was that maron appearance or something else he did around that time, but he kept talking about how the characters were so great and so interesting and it really made me sick because HE fucking wrote them.

It's incredibly prototypical insufferable celebrity behavior to weep over your own work and then go on to tell people about it over and over. I've always thought Louis was a little irritating like that ever since he brought the news of his divorce like it was some new plane of consciousness he'd just achieved.

This idea is maing me laugh really hard. Louie is the reason I got into OnA and his old aplearances are still hilarious, but he's such a fag.

He definitely did that on Maron. The entire podcast was devoted to how he felt about those characters, with Marc tonguing his asshole the entire time.

Heard this then watched H&P and found Louis objectively awful at onscreen emoting. Marc and Louis talked about it like it was some Marlon Brando feat of powerhouse virtuosity. There's a lot of great actors on that show, and Louis embarrasses himself trying to operate on their level. This is a minority assessment, though - tv critics in particular feel Louis has real business being in front of the camera. On the FX show where he's playing himself and it's not terribly serious, he's serviceable, but H&P called for a range that he couldn't provide.

The whole thing was hammy over-acting and stupid cliches, punctuated with asinine barfly arguments. I didn't hate it, but there wasn't anything special about it and I'm sure I'll never watch it again.

She played it better than it was written. It was very jarring cutting to the close-ups of Louis, looking like he was constipated on the bowl when he was trying to sell the character's emotional turmoil.

It was good, but I'd rather watch Louie's grittier stuff where there's eventually a punchline hidden beneath tragedy and struggle.

When I hear people complaining that his FX show wasn't funny I want to spit in their face. It's not a fucking sitcom faggot.

He's gone through a complete tone change. Some of it may be due to him getting older, but I think a lot of it has to do with audiences changing and also him trying to reinvent his style. Louie from 2005-2011 was amazing. I think he realized though that he can't be that guy forever because then it will be old hat. That being said instead of doing stuff thats old hat, he far too often is doing fag hat stuff.

Director Louis gave us Pootie Tang though.
