LOUIS CK 2017 on Netflix - Thoughts?

Personally I liked it. Not his best, but some lol moments in there for suuuuure.

I came to hate CK and his bs self importance and artsy shit lately, but this special was pretty funny. Liked it more than Chapelle and Jimmy's.

Stand up is a dying art. I haven't watched a special in years and I don't intend to start again anytime soon. Boring.

You should check out Amy Schumers special. It's pretty good.

I was the same and I checked out Dave Chappelle's new specials. I'm embarrassed that I ever liked comedy. #NeverAgain

There is something about watching recorded standup being not great, but I don't think there's any proof that it's dying. I am also very excited to see norm next sat.

Yeah, exactly. Specials suck. They're overly rehearsed and don't represent a true comedy show, or even a comedian in a lot of ways. It's the most watered down and packaged version of their stuff, to appeal to the widest possible audience.

That was the best part about Jimmy's special, he used a surprising amount of crowd work that was improv & unexpected, felt so much less like a stuffy special.

anyone uploaded it somewhere?

(third world country no Netflix)

Wales?

Louis CK once again proved that he is the most important comic of the 21st century. We open with a sweeping shot of Louis training with legendary boxing coach Sammy 'Tippy Toes" Gauducci in his personal gym in the Village. A voiceover of Lois reflects back on the moments leading up to this special and how it shaped him into the man that he is toady.

We then cut to some beautiful shots of New York accompanied by freeform jazz (played by Louis himself) and then cut to Louis preparing backstage - doing some quick squat thrusts and shadowboxing. He stares into a dusty mirror - the reflection looking back at him is that of a tired old man with a certain sadness in his eyes. Do I still got it? he thinks to himself. With a deep breath he puts on his custom-made suit jacket and heads towards the stage, ready to prove all the naysayers wrong.

On stage, Louis is in rare form. He deconstructs norms and makes the audience question their very existence in a way that only a true artiste like Louis could do. With topics ranging from his children to his ex-wife and everything in between, Louis proves that the uncultured everyman Louis of old is dead (thankfully so) and in his place is a man whose talents extend far beyond offensive jokes about his daughter's private parts. The closing in particular was especially memorable, as Louis reads off a list of his favorite restaurants in the Village while shots of New York show on the big screen in the background, proving that Louis really gets the essence of the city and what it's all about.

Once it was all said and done, I left this special not with just some new laughs under my belt but with an appreciation of what true artistry looks like in its rarest form. This is without a doubt the most important standup special of the 21st century. It was beautiful and triumphant and a celebration - and criticism - of modern mores and ideals that we all take for granted.

i am unreasonably upset.

toady

tss he hippin and hoppin n shitz or sumpthin?

Oh I feel so embarrassed!

Well now with the edit, I look like the fool :(

Hoo hoo he's ripping me off

Im not sure the first poster was joking, which if so is hilarious.

I watched it, then called the F.B.I. After a few of his jokes about Jesus, I suspect he may have been forcing female communist comedians in black glasses to watch him playing with his speckled, awkward-shaped endowment.

Female Body Investigators, fawkkk yehhh tss. Did you hear what I sed?

Great point, Chippah. I will have to ask another agency to investigate this Mexican man exposing his misshapen organ.

Just finished it. Didn't laugh once. I did the nose exhale like three times.

Noooo I wanted it to be good

It doesn't mean its bad, the average poster here is dead inside. So you shouldn't judge by their reactions.

The people here are rarely wrong with this kind of stuff though. I'll still give it a chance

Uh, no that isn't true at all

Uhhhh Were fucking smart dude. Smart as Fuck.

then why would i trust you!

Don't, watch the damn thing and judge for yourself

Yes he fucking should.

It doesn't have to make you laugh to be extremely good comedy

Lol what is comedy without laughter?

George Carlin post 2005

To be honest, I'm not a huge fan but had just rolled a joint and figured it'd be good for a few laughs. There were many times where I said out loud to myself, what the fuck is he talking about? Or, had to look away out of embarrassment.

I have a hard time forgetting he likes to make women watch him jerk off.

source?

He boxed some female comics who used to do onj in his hotel room and forced them to watch him jerk himself off

It's a lie people are spreading because they don't like what Louis CK has said about Trump.

Well that's not true at all. Rumors about CK's alleged sexual misconduct have been around since around 2015. Just google it and you'll find a good chunk of articles. Nothing has been proved, nobody has actually been charged and Louis hasn't actually made any direct comments to it (AFAIK) but the rumors are still there.

Right, it's an unproven rumor. The lie is in people repeating it as if it's a fact because Loius CK hurt their feelings.

I see I misinterpreted your comment then. We can agree on that second part. I would be hesitant to both accept these allegations as truth and to dismiss them as lies.

lol dont be a backtracking faggot now bruh that other faggot fuck was saying trump supporting cucks are making up rumors because they dont agree with the boxing legend thats louis ck, who delicated his nigger jokes to mr ali, the first of his name

Clearly you are one of the people I was talking about.

trump talked about shit that raise the price of internet thats enough for me to hate him but this ck fella is something, i would just say this the best time for him to die is when he was doing edgy ona

You are very wound up.

u wanna fight me bitch

I can't I have a lot of reasons to stay out of jail.

I wouldn't dismiss the rumor either, but there's just no proof and no reason to believe it. It came from Gawker of all places. So these people are going to repeat it so more people believe it, and it will work unfortunately.

What? It didn't come from Gawker, these reports and accusations have come out of individuals. Maybe Gawker made a shitty article about it but it doesn't change the actual source.

Let me guess.. hate it he's not funny never was or what a liberal fuck

I'm angry, he didn't mention once how hard black people have had it in the past and now. How dare you MR. CK.

I miss his racist jokes

Fuck that. I gave it 1 star. We get it, he's full of angst. Same shit. Tired old man. 1 star review.

People on this sub are getting more and more anti-standup, like standup specials should be completely synonymous with radio.

I understand that standup in general has less laughs in it than what we get from old O&A, but that doesn't mean it's bad. Anyone on here who thinks standup is a dying art should watch Dave Attel's roadwork and reassess their opinions.

As for Louie's, I understand and agree with some of the criticism on here, but this was a tight set and shows he can still control a crowd like a master.

Radio gives comedians a platform to improv and break free from their acts, but their acts are still their primary jobs. just because we've seen someone absolutely destroy on O&A doesn't mean they suck if their standup doesn't have as many laugh. You have people around you on the radio to bounce jokes off of and who contribute to the joke. When you're on stage it's just you, and it's much harder to get a room full of people to laugh at you alone than it is to get them to laugh at you and a bunch of other comedians.

Anthony likes female cock.

Yuck

Roadwork was 3 years ago...but it was funny.

Louie has gotten progressively worse and worse since Shameless.

Parts of it reminds me of Geroge Carlin and Bill Hicks, it's pretty good

Geroge who?

Geroge Carlin, the famous Bulgarian mime artist. Jeez, this place really is full of uncultured swine

Wow, you people must hate a good time.

Louis thanked Barack Obama in the credits

"I've thought of killing myself just to win an argument". This hit me depressingly hard.

Hopefully you're the next person to post a cry for help followed by a bunch of long-winded replies from other mental cases.

I didn't actually laugh once

Patton Oswalt killed his wife

True but seems off topic.

His career protecting pandering ruined it for me

I thought it was great.

Well, according to this sub, that makes you a lib faggot gay homo.

I am one of those two things.

It sucked. Hard. I mean like vacuum of space suck.

I think this was his best show ever. Seriously. Sure he's had better bits, but as a whole...this show was really tight and took his style into somewhat new realms. Enjoyed it way more than chapelles show.
