Whoa, come down there little fella. All I saw was the title after I posted it, and thought it said that it was posted a year ago. It's creepy that we fell into the same YouTube loop.
I had no idea, that's awesome. It's fascinating that for centuries they've used a term for 'cuckold' as an insult or a description yet in America it's only been in recent years that it's been used in popular culture. That's probably why in the movie Scorsese chose "content to be a jerk" rather than " he's a cuckold" because back in the 90's no one would've know wtf that meant. Im surprised I never knew this, I don't speak a lot of Italian but my grandparents are from Italy & grew up in a Brooklyn Italian neighborhood.
I always laughed at this because it reminded of the dinner scene in Goodfellas. When Tommy, Jimmy, and Henry are eating at Tommy's mother's house. Everybody asked Henry why he isn't talking, and he says his listening. Ironically, Opie assumes the role of Henry Hill and Ray Liotta asks him why he isn't talking. Blows the mind right?
You would think that for the amount of times his coworkers have quoted this movie that he would take an hour and a half out of his life to actually watch the movie.

Fun fact: the term Tommy usese Cornutto Contento means "Cuckold" in Italian, but Tommy translates it as jerk:

I don't understand, can you slow down and explain it more thoroughly?

Ray Liotta treats Opie like Henry Hill in Goodfellas e.g Henry not talking at the dinner. It's ironic because Ray Liotta played Henry Hill.
