Watched this one just the other day. You're right. Patrice looks at him w/ so much respect and admiration. More than anyone I've ever seen him give. Save for Run DMC.
Pat Cooper was from a day where Political Correctness didn't exist - albeit, to be mainstream, you had to work relatively clean, but you still ultimately had a lot more freedom. I think that time period always fascinated Patrice, which is why he was so respectful of Pat.
He was pretty respectful towards Jackie Mason on TC too. Though not quite in the same level, as even on O&A, Patrice let himself get dumped on completely by Pat.
Yeah id much rather see a vos plug, some alt right talk, or a HILARIOUS daily reminder. Why would we wanna see something that is pertinent to the reasons we started visiting this?

Not surprising, Mason is a pretty safe Comic, but he came up through that era. Pat however was a real ballbuster, like the O&A group were.

Pat Cooper telling Patrice to "tap dance" is one of the all time great lines.

I heard Giraldo called Patrice a nigger to his face after this was recorded.

Both Colin Quinn and Pat Cooper completely pegged Islam in this episode.
