I don't get why the uploader, who I'm very thankful towards, uploads Opie's show. Based on the number of views Opie's show gets versus Jim & Sam's, it doesn't seem like it's worth the monetary payout versus time put in. Plus, it would be a big 'fuck you' to Opie, and show him his show sucks so bad it's not even worth bootlegging.

My knowledge might be a bit out of date, but the way DMCA was applied on YouTube was they would accept any takedown notice, then it moved into another stage where the uploader could counter it, but they had to provide their real life ID, then if the person doing the takedown still disagreed, they could then start taking the uploader to court. The only people who didn't get their videos automatically taken down by this system were YouTube Partners (these are the big channels and corporate channels).

Because of having to give up the real life identity a lot of people choose not to counter. If it really was Sirius, it gives Sirius the details of who to go after, and if it wasn't Sirius, they would be doxxing themself to someone who might then use that info to fuck with them in real life.

~20k views per channel on each new video. That basically says there are at least 20k daily listeners, where as SiriusXM apparently doesn't give out any numbers. I think a lot of younger people listen to shows like podcasts and most people don't drive 4h a day so live listener numbers shouldn't be so important. If they gave out the show as a free podcast and promoted it, I'm sure they'd do a lot better compared to people listening to a show while driving.

If that were the case, why remove everything and not just opie's stuff? And if sxm doesn't care, why do anything at all? Opie has no rights to the content it's all owned by sxm so he could throw as big a tantrum as he wanted and unless they were willing to act the uploader would have been fine.

I'm guessing sxm probably sent the takedown notice if it was all removed all at once, they're probably just saying they don't care to avoid angering people, but it would make sense financially... Why allow free uploads of the show when they can force you to pay $25/month to get all the requisite stuff to be able to stream on demand through the app?
