Mike Cannon is a perfect example of how dumb comedians sound when they step outside their industry

At 1:40:11 he starts ranting about coal miners of all people.
He is a lower tier comic at best and he's ranting against people that risk their lives to produce something that is actually useful to society.
For the record, coal has hundreds of uses, and even with 100% clean energy, we are in trouble when it runs out. The US supplies are mostly depleted, and we will shortly have to start mining the more difficult to reach reserves, at greater cost.

I didnt watch this, but there isnt a coal miner out there that wouldnt drop their shovel and hard hat in a second if they had the talent to make a living doing stand up comedy

Maybe, but they'd have to be extremely good comics to beat the coal miners starting salary of about $60,000. Average salaries for underground miners are $150,000 and rising fast.

I'd heard that those salaries are going down as union mines close and there's a glut of miners, but regardless a lot of douchebags like this comic don't realize how much more money many 'blue collar' workers make relative to shitty white collar jobs.

That might be a reference to the fact that US production has peaked, but that's only because we've been mining easy to reach surface coal until now. The future will be the deeper underground mines, where starting salaries will be 100K+

Or cheaper alternatives, which have an endless supply and cause much less economic and detrimental environmental effects, like say, the like the sun and wind.

I'm not talking about electricity production. Coal has many other uses in materials science and pharmaceuticals. For example, the carbon activated filters that are in everything are made with coal. You can also make them without coal, but then you have to cut down a tree and make charcoal.

But the environment, maaaaaan! We need to smoke weed and not smoke coal, maaaaan.

Overall it was a terrible show. They had the usual effeminate sounding opinions on politics, and the 35 year old with the dyke haircut was trying to convince everyone that a multi-millionaire is paying her for sex.

Even if the coal industry is obsolete and can never be fully rehabilitated (which might be the case), to claim - totally straight-faced - that coal workers deserve to be poor, is such a staggering combination of callousness and retardation. What a piece of shit.
