Baffles me the perception outsiders have of this place. They all seem to think this some /pol/-style cesspit of bitterness and anger, when really we're mostly well-adjusted adults engaging in gleeful hate to make each other laugh. None of our callousness is rooted in personal failures or stunted development. We're just carrying on the tradition of creative cruelty that O&A started, where it was a competition to see who could get out the most vicious line. This place is generative rather than destructive. We funnel cynicism into acts of creation. We're artists.
For the most part they don't get this sub & all it's beauty. But, they do have a point about a segment that exist here of non-funny far right-wing bitter assholes who have nothing to offer except their own self loathing. Other than that that burr sub can go fuck themselves.
So the posts accusing Patton Oswalt of killing his wife and sending them to him directly are all jokes - you guys trying to top each other? And repeatedly suggesting that certain fathers aren't the fathers of their children? And all the racist bullshit you revel in?
The thing i like about this sub is that humor is the number one priority, not even the people its named after get a pass and that it never devolves into a collective. We're like al qaeda in that theres an overarching goal (funny) but everyone operates in their own cell.
