Jim's standup is unbelievable bad for how funny he can be, his delivery is a complete rip off of Carlin, probably the last comic Jim saw when he watched you are all diseased in the 90s

Sometimes he sounds a lot like Colin Quinn too. His delivery is clearly influenced (or ripped off) from Colin Quinn, but sometimes he even sounds like him. Has anyone else noticed this?

Jim is definitely intimidated by younger guys and I honestly think he doesn't fully understands their generations humor. When Mullen was on Jim kept doing the Opie 2 seconds later laughs.

It's really just his close friends and the occasional old school dickheads like tim conway etc that he's funny with. All the other comics who aren't in his circle Jim becomes antisocial and just sits back waiting to drop some inside joke that only he and sam get and laugh at while the comics are lost.

OP isn't talking about his stand up, even said hes not funny when alone. Put most regular stand ups on the radio with Jim and he can run circles around them and it's fucking hilarious. Jim is absolutely one of the quickest, funniest people when hes shitting on someone else and getting shit on. Look at episodes of O&A where Rich Vos and Bob Kelly are in studio.

If you read my reply I said his act is tired as in there was a time when it wasn't, the show had great chemistry for a while. I think most of us share that feeling and have that in common and is why we are even here at all.

Even when Colin Quinn comes in they spend 20 minutes getting his breakfast order and tea. It's too relaxed, Jimmy is looking at his phone, and making a couple comments. They don't feel any pressure to make a show.

When you listen to the old Opie and Anthony episodes it sounded like they had some urgency to make an entertaining broadcast. Especially Anthony, who didn't want to have to go back to working in attics.

Jim doesn't have that instinct with radio, because over the huge amount of time he was on O&A he never had any pressure, he just needed to throw in lines. You can tell Sam gets it more, because he has done his own shows before, but you need the funny guy, Jim, to be alert and active, like Ant was.

Sam is getting frustrated with Jim.

Sam should be, when they were first launching the show Jim wouldn't come in on Fridays if he had some stand up to do in another city. From the start, Jim was not pulling 50% of the weight.

Again though, it's not Jim's instinct, his entire radio career has been to get people to hear him, and then they buy tickets to his shows. He didn't have the Opie and Anthony salary, he made his money by listeners supporting his stand up. Sam is decades younger than him, hoping to create an enormous show, and Jim is just going through the motions, not really giving a fuck.
