If I've been Mac all my life, what's the learning curve to rooting androids? Is it cake or am I gonna have trial and error, just to get my device bloated. I finally know what bloat ware is and frankly, sir.

Dunno, only ever rooted my tablet and that was over 5 years ago. I imagine there would be some trial and error, but yeah not sure how much disk space it uses and whether or not it'll slow down your phone.
If you just want to make minor changes like altering statusbar symbols or icons it should be fine.
I'm no expert though, so the android root sub is your best bet for info.
