I dont think jim understands when Nick is joking. I love how Nick brought up MDE's World Peace, but called it just WORLD PEACE and both Jim and Sam laughed even though they had no idea why they were laughing. For some reason when Nicks on with Norton I feel like Jim gets really intimidated by Nick for some reason.
He's attracted to Nick. He's probably also slightly jealous of the idea of being young and first breaking into comedy when he feels like he's old and missed his chance at real stardom. So he's feeling all sorts of insecure around him.
When your friends are CQ, Louis CK, Dave Attell, etc... you dont have make besties with up and coming youngsters. Put those guys on the pay no mind list, and concentrate on banging insecure, unfunny chicks trying to be comedians.
He's not friends with CK or etc jim is universally disliked in the entertainment world. He will tell you otherwise of course. And he will drop names that's for sure but he gets used because he can help promote shows. Jim is intimidated by real talent.

I think nick is hilarious but for some reason it doesn't seem like nicks sense of humor fits with the show.
