I always knew that Opie was an unfunny dunce whose attempts at being "cool" were cringeworthy, but before Ant's firing I still held on to the "ship-steerer" myth. I just couldn't bring myself to believe that one-third of my favorite radio show was an utterly useless waste of space. This changed when I heard him "fighting for his life" the moment he didn't have someone with actual talent to lean on. Also, hearing what a cunt he was behind the scenes made me dislike him on a personal level.
