interestingly enough there was a story a bit ago about the ploice trying to get the Echo data from a murderer's account but Amazon wouldn't give it to them.
This explains, why their non-existent business model still prevents them going belly-under. SiriusXM is a NSA operation! Every new car gets a pre-installed receiver... (Thermite Paint)
If it makes you feel better everyone is tracking everything you do. Facebook, Google, all that shit. They want you "connected." They want to know what you eat, drink, where you sleep, what you watch (disturbing porn), who your friends are (nobody), etc.
But hey, gang, why gives a turkey anyway? It's not like we have a fourth amendment to worry about anymore! But they will be surprised when they see how many times a day I can beat off without passing out. God bless America.
You messed up the headline. The SiriusXM tracking was only done 2 years ago and involves some of the newer car integration features that require an Internet connection.

First, I never believed it was truly unidirectional. But idk. Besides that, though, they do have telematics systems, which obviously have to be bi-directional. They're likely built right into lots of cars. Like OnStar.

You ain't embedding a satellite transmitter in something as small as the XM/Sirius units.
OnStar is based on a cell phone connection- as are I believe the newer Sirius units.
Its completely believable that the government can track the cellular based stuff- that would work in the same way you can triangulate a cell phone based on the tower communication.
But I'm still not believing that they were able to do anything with the unidirectional satellite broadcasts that were around for the bulk of that 15 years. (Or any current system that has only the receiver and not the cellular connection)

My dumpy little 2015 Mitsubishi Mirage doesn't have cruise control, much less a satellite radio. Feels gud.

So it's XM's fault, instead of your father's fault for brutally anally raping you for 10 years?

Correct

Yeah, I never understood why there's links to share the porn you're watching on Facebook. Hey Aunt Denise, check out the incest porn I'm watching.

How on earth are they using a unidirectional satellite connection to track a car?

It's the HARP SYSTEM!

The new cars with Sirius traffic update feature have this. It's pretty common knowledge.
