I agree with the first part of this. The first year and a half after Anthony was fired had all of the good fallout shit go on. However, the little bit of time Jim & Sam have been around has proven how awful ALL of the shows are, and have been. Even with the excitement that J&S had, they just could not capitalize. Sam is just terrible and Jimmy has stopped caring even slightly.
It was the worst, but most notable. I felt so compelled to listen to the show crumble, like i needed to go down with the ship. But the relief i felt when Opie quit. Jim & Sam are great, and might be the best incarnation, They just need Ant. I want Sam to fully replace Opie to the point where we go back to old O&A photos and put Sams face over Opies.
Jim and Sam is the best reincarnation. Opie and Jim just had the luck of being in that Opie transition era when he couldn't shake off the old show so it still had some elements of it but Opie clearly didn't want it to have any of them as he 'reinvented' himself to dad radio
