Rational explanation while maybe not funny and certainly a douche and MMA bore, I realized that Ellis is at least 1: a personality who is generally talking about stuff he's doing in the relative present and not a millionaire shut-in complaining about TV shows 2: Listens to and genuinely interacts with the people he's in the room with 3: is willing to look like/admit he's a dick and generally ok upsetting the status quo.

Basically, he's not a broadcaster. He's not a guy who thinks he can add to anything going on because he's such a pro. His material at the very least begins with himself. So in the same way people will say "that larry the cable guy is a great comic" without actually owning that Larry the cable guy is horribly unfunny, Ellis is actually the best show thats going to be on faction talk (and bennington.)
