There ARE narrow exceptions for art - but the hiring process needs to be open for all to apply. The producers can then determine the actor doesn't fit the role.

I'll reiterate: if a producer is going for a look, there are plenty of non-minorities that can pass for minority (Italians, Greeks, etc). If these people are passed up based on their race alone (and not their talent) then that is discrimination.
