What's great is that Opie has spent years cultivating the "Opie Radio" brand and probably felt the whole thing had really come to fruition and paid off with the launch of his own channel. In the past two months he has lost the prime time slot on his own channel, and now it's being renamed, because in actuality the Opie Radio brand - something he's worked so hard to give meaning to - means nothing.

He's stupid, this we know. His career " success " is simply indicative of the fact that his industry is/was fickle and wholly unrepresentative of what an actual effort vs reward job should entail. There's no doubt that Opie was physically present at his job over the years but I think that he thinks he genuinely paved the way to his own success based on his ( to this day still unknown ) talent.

He won the lottery because he kept buying tickets, not because his " system " is particularly intricate or popular. The issue with this fuckin guy is that nobody ( NOOOOOOOBODY! ) had the numbers showing just how unimportant he and his brand really is. And now that management do have access to quantifying figures they're finally in an elevated position to show him his true worth. He's all but done and I'll miss his idiocy when he finally goes. That's crazy they are putting him up against Bennington. The majority of listeners already familiar with the O&A/Opie Channel are far more likely to tune into Ronnie before they would listen to Ellis. The management there is fucking terrible. I would prefer to see J&S in the morning, Bennington middays and I guess put Ellis @ nights where Opie is now. In a perfect world there would be no Ellis or Opie, but hey.

I know I'm going to get a fuckton of downvotes but I actually listen to Ellis most days when Jim and Sam aren't on and enjoy his show. I used to HATE him has a radio host because all he did was talk over/interrupt his guest and run his mouth. I know he mentioned on Sam's night show how he was trying to change a lot of things and has been working his ass off the past couple of years to build his show up which has improved his show immensely.
