I like Colbert as a satirist. When he dropped the smarmy republican act he became a little sanctimonious but I still respect him for his contribution to comedy. Also, Quinn is a goddamn national treasure.

Liberals have such a weird interpretation of reality. "Everybody was shocked. Even Trump was shocked. That's why he didn't have anything in place".
The dude had people lining up around the block to see him for months on end. He destroyed 16 established politicans in the primaries, including several Governors and a brother of the former President. The NYTimes suppressed analysis that they had from the Clintons showing him to be a strong candidate in favor of spreading the lies that he was unelectable.
Now that he's elected he's already spoken with more world leaders than Obama had at this point. He's also better connected and has better relationships with his announced cabinet than Obama had at this point, who had to make Clinton his Secretary of State.
He was also literally one of two things that was going to happen. If Trump was 1 of 8 candidates we all got to choose from til the very end I'd understand the "shock" and being like how the fuck did The Apprentice guy get elected is this legal? But he was the only other possible outcome. idk "shock" just seems so dumb.
I think Trump knew he was gonna win. Or at least his advisors knew. At his rallies he always said 'when we win nov 8' with such careless confidence he had me convinced. I do think that hes somewhat impressed with the magnitude of the job though now that he got it.
He knew because his campaign manager was an experienced pollster who didnt take polls that had a heavy democratic bias like the media's polls. Thats how they got a +12 at one point from ABC, only the L.A. Times daily poll was accurate throughout.
Near the end, Colin forgets he has a hurt leg, and does a run around, you can hear him say ow and he immediately sits back down. I honestly think he forgot he was injured. He's one of these Irish guys that thinks on a good day they could beat Lebron James 1 on 1.
Colbert proves that (((TV execs))) don't understand how TV works. Colbert report was funny because of the character/context, but more importantly the writing. They must have been watching the report and going "this guy is hilarious, we should give him a show where he isn't confined by that right wing schtick they're making him do", not realizing that all the funny was coming from the writers who were given this ridiculous character who could talk to camera every day with a constant supply of material (right wing TV editorials) to make fun of. They took the character away, they took away his focus and said "just be you. Talk about anything you want", and we got another pandering "media elite" condescending to America. Even conservatives liked the colbert report, because they don't take themselves, or at least their media, as seriously as moralizing leftists. This show just displays open disdain for conservatives, because instead of just mocking them, he literally calls them nazis. Good job, you alienated the entirety of America between the coasts. Good luck beating the consciously apolitical Jimmies when over half of your potential audience turned away from you the moment you hopped on board the "I have an obligation to take a stand" train. Hell, even Conan has largely kept his leftism in check on air, and Stewart was smart enough to couch his liberal shit in "I'm not left or right, I just like common sense" faux-impartiality. Colbert let his ideology take precedence over being funny. Seth Myers and Colbert are just having nightly "let's make everyone think I'm smart" contests.
Actually, Colbert was just sick of playing the "Stephen Colbert
character. It wasn't (((TV execs))) who took it away from him. Everything else you typed isn't wrong though.
Yeah, I've heard him say he didn't want to do the report character anymore , but that doesn't really negate anything I said: ever since he dropped the act, he's lost his funny. That is true. And CBS, in giving him a show as himself, clearly didn't understand why the Repot worked or what made it funny. There's a big difference between playing a character who sits at a desk and gives monologues about the news vs. being comfortable as yourself on TV and doing the topical stand up set and celebrity interviews that are, basically, the primary tasks of a late night network TV host. And being good at one doesn't necessarily mean that you'll be good at the other.
Believe it or not, many people, (((tv execs))) inckuded, are not savvy enough to tell why some comedy shows are successful and others aren't. Maron famously bitches about how he's hears Jon Stewart Liebowitz fans in the TV industry say shit like "I love Jon Stewart, it's amazing how he has time to write all those jokes every day", which is literally like a young child's understanding of TV production. But these are the Jews deciding what gets on TV.
Honestly, Ferguson was my favorite after Conan left. It's a shame he wasn't given the main gig after Letterman retired.
He was just zany enough for the late late time slot to make it legitimately funny.
Now we have James Cordon - who's claim to fame is sitting in cars and singing with celebrities.
He knew because his campaign manager was an experienced pollster who didnt take polls that had a heavy democratic bias like the media's polls. Thats how they got a +12 at one point from ABC, only the L.A. Times daily poll was accurate throughout.

He's hugely sanctimonious now
-2 TriangleDimes 2016-11-19
So you're saying you respect his contribution to comedy?
30 Matikorn 2016-11-19
Colin never talks with full sentences and always throws an idea expecting you to get it in three or four words then moves on to the next.
10 insertclevereference 2016-11-19
Trumpspeak, it's a New York thing.
5 UnwarrantedArrogance 2016-11-19

furthermore i noticed when seinfeld directs colin, none of this is happening
long story short is very clear, unconstitutional is an absolute disaster in that regard, and i bet new york story will be clear again.

4 Jaymormay 2016-11-19
The nation needs to recognize that this man, besides for Billy Gibbons, is the coolest person on the planet.
2 the_kronkez 2016-11-19
Is there a second of footage of this faggot Colbert ever being funny?
17 OKChaps 2016-11-19
Yes. There's a video of him interviewing Colin Quinn where he points out something pretty funny.
I don't have the link right now but you might be able to find it somewhere.
-1 the_kronkez 2016-11-19
Thanks. I will look it up.
8 xyniphis 2016-11-19
The Colbert report was very consistent in being fucking hilarious.
I've only seen the cringey stuff from his new show.

"That was just a Republican character I used to play" - Amy Colbert.
