i enjoyed the movie : In a Valley of Violence. which starred ethan and was plugged by james ranson and ti-west ... probably never would have seen it if not for jim and sam
There wasn't any violence! All they fucking did was talk to each other. Badly. That was such a bad movie I wanted to walk out, I swear to god. What a complete mess.
I paid. He was doing a Q&A after. I talked to him and got to pet the dog. (That dog was awesome)
The thing is, it was a tonal disaster. He steals the credits from The Good The Bad The Ugly, and tells the crowd after (boy was there a lot of hot chicks there, Christ) he was going for a classic "Sergio Leone Spaghetti Western thing." Well one of the most famous lines in G/B/U is "If you're gonna shoot, SHOOT, don't talk." All anyone did in this thing was fucking talk. They delivered 3/4 page monologues before they shot anyone, it was just pages of bad, bad dialogue. I couldn't believe what a mess it was. He completely went against everything Sergio Leone was about. There was barely any dialogue in those movies.
Plus it felt like it was made for about $20k. There was NO extras in that entire town. The production design was awful. I actually didn't mind John Travolta in it but all the other principles were bad (or at least boring af) actors. By the end, I think about 4 people had died. I was so fucking pissed. How do his pieces of shit get funding, but not my pieces of shit. That are less shitty than his pieces of shit.
Great movie. Phillip Seymour Hoffman plays a great sociopathic asshole, and Ethan hawke plays a great loser. One of my favorite scenes is Michael Shannon shaking Ethan hawke down. "Mind if I call you Chico?" And Ethan hawke pathetically murmurs, "people call me Hank."

Wow, what a great reminder how awful the two years of O&J were.

Fair enough. I didn't pay. It was on the web the day of the Jim and Sam appearance.

Wow, I had to tap out after 15 secs. Cringeworthy.

I tapped out when Opie goes, "...I...I don't think it's boring, I think there's something..."
Fuck off.
